The population of Binningup is 900 and the
Harvey Shire is 22,529.
The modern beachside town of Binningup is located at the heart of
the Harvey Shire’s 40km stretch of golden coastline, and is one of
the fastest growing towns in the Harvey district. Binningup was
first put to use as a lookout point in World War II. It was while
the soldiers were watching the coastline for the enemy, they
visualised their families swimming safely within its shelter. Hence
a town formed and now has 1000 residents. Binningup is a popular
holiday destination. The beach is sheltered and calm as there is a
reef running parallel to the shore. Perfect for the whole family.
The fish are easy to catch and the golden sands stretch for miles
and miles, perfect for those long romantic walks under breathtaking
sunsets.
Things to See and Do
BINNINGUP BEACH
Binningup Beach is very popular in both summer
and winter. A reef that runs parallel to the beach makes it ideal
for safe family swimming, snorkeling and boat launching. The long,
sandy white beach is perfect for long winter strolls, playing in
the sand, relaxing or throwing in a line to catch Tailor, Yellowfin
whiting, Herring, Flathead and Salmon. The fishing here is
excellent.
BINNINGUP MOSAIC ENTRANCE
The $39,000 sculpture was funded by the Harvey
Shire in 2007. Designed and made by a local artist Anthea Ward. The
fishing boat hull, resting on a base of stainless steel, is
composed of 300 clay fish, hand-curved for their individual
positioning and hand-glazed in colours changing from yellow to red.
The project took 18 months to complete. Steven
Price welded and shaped the stainless steel, Evan Holmes and
Laser Cutting Technology in Australind, cut the steel. This
unique mosaic is located at the roundabout entrance which is an
ideal spot to greet visitors, who can see the fish glittering in
the sun from a distance.

LAKEWOOD SHORES ARMILLARY SPHERE SUNDIAL
Binningup's Lakewood Shores is home to the
Armillary Sphere Sundial which was designed and made in 1998 for
Lakewood Shores. Located on the corner of Lakes Parade and Lugano
Edge, Binningup.

Binningup Golf Club has a magnificent 9-hole course, set in natural
bushland with an abundance of native flora and fauna. The course
continues to the beach dunes with great views of the ocean. Pack a
set of clubs and enjoy a relaxing round on one of the most scenic
courses in Western Australia.
